My new puppy, Triss, was born on April 7th, 2008. So that makes her 8 weeks 1 day today. I have had her for four days now. She seems to be adjusting very well to our home. At first, she seemed reluctant to potty outside, but she has improved a lot. I have been crate training her so I take her outside first thing in the morning, after meals, after playing, after naps, and before bedtime. Out of the 10 times she goes potty a day, only 2 times right now is an accident inside. I don't think she grasps the idea yet that she HAS to potty outside, but if I'm consistent, she will learn soon. I'm trying to use positive reinforcement with the potty training and she gets lots of praise for going outside.

Shes very sweet and playful. She loves the rope toys and play balls I got for her. She loves to follow me around outside when we play. When I get her attention and walk away, she gets really excited and runs at me. In the next few days, I plan to get a puppy sized harness and a long retractable leash. She is getting a little more bold when I take her outside and strays a little further from me than I am comfortable with. I also plan to get her a pen to put her in outside so she can play outside while I work in the garden and watch her.

I took her to her first puppy check-up today and the vet says she is healthy. She weighed 2 lbs even and had a good heartbeat. The vet said she seems like a very personable puppy, and has a good attitude.

Its been raining a lot, and she has been getting a little dirty. I wonder when I can start taking her in for baths at a groomers.
